Parking at CSULB
As you may know, parking is an "issue" in Southern California. CSULB is no exception, so we provide the following information to make parking as easy as possible for you when you visit us. First, the map:
Things you need to know about parking:
- The CSULB Campus is divided into two main areas.
Upper Campus is on top of the hill to the south, near 7th Street.
Lower Campus is the flat part of campus to the north, near Atherton Street.
- The School of Art is on Upper campus. But the parking lots near the School of Art are restricted to faculty and staff and are usually full during the week.
- Parking for those without a campus parking permit is $5 for a day pass. These can be obtained from the yellow machines found in each public lot.
- During the week, the University operates the Campus Connection, a free shuttle service between the big parking lots on Lower campus and Upper campus. Shuttle stops are located in all of the public lots, and shuttles run 10-15 minutes apart. This is an alternative to walking to the School of Art from a Lower campus parking lot.
Generally, if you're planning a visit to the CSULB School of Art during the week, you'll have to park in one of the public lots and walk or take a shuttle to the School of Art.
If you are a VIP visitor, you may be told to pick up a permit under your name at the Visitor Information Center on University Drive (see map above).
