seing circle logoCSULB Painting Lecturer Siobhan McClure has curated a group exhibition entitled “The Sewing Circle” at the Seaver Gallery at Marlborough School in Los Angeles. The exhibition will open from 5 – 8pm on Saturday, September 22nd, and will features new work by ten artists in Los Angeles. The artists included in the show are Lavialle Campbell, Rebecca Campbell, Phung Huynh, Laura Krifka, Tidawhitney Lek, Kelly McClane, Siobhan McClure, Stephanie Mercado, Andrea Patrie and Kate Savage. The artists will be working in many disciplines, from painting to printmaking, even quilting, but all of these artists speak to the narratives of femininity and moreover to the collective thought of the conversations, interactions, and polite intimacy that occurs in sewing circles. While there is a point to the sewing, it is in the community and in sharing of information that the true power of the gathering reveals itself. The exhibition will run from August 27 through September 28, 2018.
