CSULB Graphic Design Students take 3rd place in national Disney competition

Posted on March 28, 2013 by School of Art

Walt Disney Imagineering’s 22nd ImagiNations Design Competition has concluded, and students representing Cal State Long Beach have taken third prize.

ImagiNations challenges college students from around the country to conceive and craft a proposal for a new Disney theme park, attraction, resort hotel or other themed entertainment experience or product. This year’s contestants were given the following guideline: Come up with a concept for a family entertainment experience in a setting where Disney does not already have a presence.

From 187 initial submissions, Allie Wong, Anthony Martinez and Amanda Madden were chosen as finalists in the 22nd Disney Imagineering ImagiNations competition for their project “Disney’s Holmby Martin Railway.” The group’s design is a train ride from Chicago to California, showing Walt Disney’s journey to success as well as reflecting his fascination of trains. Each stop represents a chapter in Disney’s life, and the rooms on the train have a special Disney influence, complete with character dining with Mickey, Minnie, Oswald and friends.

Congratulations to Ms. Wong, Mr. Martinez and Ms. Madden on their success!
