CSULB Ceramics Program featured in Art in America

Posted on January 4, 2013 by School of Art

“Ceramics are undergoing a revolution in the contemporary art world-but nowhere more so than in Los Angeles,” writes Leah Ollman in her article “The Happy Medium” in the December 2012 issue of Art in America. If L.A. is the where the revolution is, then its center is CSULB Ceramics Program “headed by Tony Marsh,” with alumni Matthias Merkel Hess and Julia Haft-Candell, as well as former professor Kristen Morgin representing three of the four artists featured in article. These artists Ollman writes, “aim to extend and expand clay’s enormous potential.” Dean Christopher Miles was also mentioned in the roster of L.A. artists engaging in the ceramic medium.
