CSULB Art History Professor Kendall Brown has curated and exhibition of Modern Japanese Kabuki prints at the USC Pacific Asia Art Museum in Pasadena. The show entitled Tsuruya Kokei: Modern Kabuki Prints Revised & Revisited, presents all of Kokei’s actor prints from 1984-1993 as well as comparative material which will showcase and explain the complexities of Kabukii—where actors take on multiple roles and males take on female roles—to explore broader questions of self definition and its representation. The exhibition will open on February 8, 2019 and continue through July 14, 2019. Congratulations Professor Brown!
